The Return by Jennifer L Armentrout

“Holy Hottie-McHotters!”

Oh My God! I loved, loved, loved this book so, so, so much! Jennifer L Armentrout has done it again!

The Return is set one year after the events of 'Sentinel' and is centered around Seth. Seth, my beautiful, complicated Seth, he really has had a tough year. His life now belongs to the Gods to do with as they please. Tracking, torturing, killing, you name it Seth has to do it. But protecting someone? Ya, not something he thought he would have to do.

Enter Josie. Just another ordinary college student- or so she thinks- but when a mysterious hot guy comes knocking she's not so sure anymore. And then things start to get weird.

“What are you?” she asked, her nose scrunching as she spoke. “Other than a heart-stopping hot guy with obvious boundary issues and problems with anger management?”

What I loved about this book was how we got to see things through Seth's point of view. It really gave me a better understanding of his character and of how he had felt throughout the previous books. His vulnerability in parts of the book was very touching and eye-opening.

Tears built in my throat. "You're not just the Apollyon, Seth."
His eyes drifted shut, his face tensed as his fingers splayed across my cheeks. "I don't even know who I am anymore. Or what I ever was."
Oh goodness, that ripped right through my chest. "You're just...you're just Seth."
A tremor moved through his arms. "And you...you're just my salvation.”

I don't want to give too much on the plot away but I will say that it was intense, intriguing and down right awesome! We also get to catch up with previous characters from the Covenant Series! That was a lovely surprise! There also wasn't a lack of humor in this story! I'd find myself in fits of laughter as quickly as I would find tears in my eyes.

“I ran over a squirrel once."
Blinking open my eyes, I drew back as far as she'd let me.
"What?"
"I ran over a squirrel the second time I ever drove a car," she repeated. "I also hit a deer. And when I was seventeen, I clipped a cat. Before I left for college, I backed into a dog."
"Gods," I muttered.”

All in all this book did not disappoint and i'm impatiently waiting until the next book in the series! I seriously recommend this book if you're a fan of the all things Seth or the Covenant Series or anything Jennifer Armentrout related!

The Return, Book Release!

Guess what beautiful and wonderful book is here?!

You got it! Seth's story is here, The Return!

It may be the first day of lent, but I can tell you all I am not going off drool-worthy boys this lent.. especially with beautiful Seth here and ready for me to read about..

Best news about this book is the fact it is a New Adult Paranormal Romance.. so I shall hope that means some very heated scenes!

So here is the Synopsis for all you who haven't read it a million times already, and for you who have.. why don't you read it once more..

The Fates are cackling their bony asses off...

It's been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they've given him have been violent and bloody--which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He's got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy's deal might be, but it's a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

So I've a little gift for y'all.. it's just a tinee-tiny excerpt.. so go fangirl..

Shaking my head, I pivoted around and walked down the long hall to my dorm room. As I reached the door, the shiver was at the base of my spine again, dancing its way up until it traveled across my shoulders. My heart turned over heavily and I closed my eyes.

Twice in one day.
Oh God.
I’d never felt this more than once in any span of several days.

Swallowing hard, I wrapped my fingers around the doorknob, battling the urge to turn and scan the hall, because I knew no one would be there.

Dragging in a deep breath, I opened the door and stepped inside the room. My brows flew up, and I forgot about the feeling as I closed the door behind me.

Erin was sprawled on the floor, palms pressed down on a mat, her spandex-covered behind jutting up toward the sky. She turned her head, peering at me from under her armpit.

Her armpit.

“How in the world do you get your neck to bend like that without killing yourself?” I asked.

“Skills, yo.”

Erin did yoga and meditation religiously, saying it helped merge her yin and yang together or something. She’d once told me she had a hell of a mean streak, and contorting herself into painful-looking positions helped keep “good vibrations” around her. Which was strange, because I’d never seen Erin lose her temper in the two years I’d known her.

Erin unfolded herself from some kind of downward dog or upward pony and grinned at me. “Check under the bed.”

Curious, I dropped my bag and stepped over her legs. Bending down, I lifted the bedspread and my eyes grew to the size of saucers when I spotted the bottle. I snatched it up and clutched it to my chest as I whipped toward her. “José!”

Her grin spread into a smile. “The best boyfriend ever.”

So y'all excited?! Because damn I know I am! Maybe I should give y'all the links to buy this beauty.. just in-case you haven't already:

Here's some stuff about Jennifer..

# 1 NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY Bestselling author Jennifer lives in Martinsburg, West Virginia. All the rumors you’ve heard about her state aren’t true. The Covenant Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The Beautiful and outstandingly amazing Covenant Series

"The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi pure bloods have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals--well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures."

Gods where do I start.

This series stole my heart, chewed it up, spat it out and then put it back together all at once.

Alex was everything I look for in a modern day heroine Sarcastic, Independent, Beautiful, Bitchy, Loud, Sweet, Charming, Honest, Annoying etc. etc. etc.

As for Aiden, gods he was nothing less than a drool worthy boy. Never in my years of reading have I come across more of a selfless character with such a beautiful heart. He didn't have a bad bone in his body and I fell head over heels in love with him for that.

And then we have Seth, the Apollyon as beautiful as a sculpture on the outside yet as messed up as my room on the inside. I wanted to hate Seth so many times throughout this series yet it was impossible. Really all he needed was for someone to just love him.

"Gods were like possums. You could go your whole life without seeing one, but once you found one of them, you found the whole freaky family.”

This book is of course about Greek Mythology so it goes without saying I should probably introduce you all to the gods, well the main gods in this series.

Apollo the god of prophecy, music, intellectual pursuits, healing, plague and the sun. He is the main god within this series. During the first few books he appears as a normal person, someone close that can keep an eye on everything that is happening.

Hades the god of the underworld, death and the dead. We meet Hades a lot throughout the last few books in this series. I found I liked Hades, there was something about him that made me want to see more of him. Hades shows up almost as much as Apollo in the last book, Sentinel.

We also see alot of other gods but I won't go into them as I don't want to give away too much. Let's just say Apollo and Hades are my favourite gods within this series.

“Two people see each across a room or their skin brushes. Their souls recognize the person as their own. It doesn't need time to figure it. The soul always knows... whether it's right or wrong.”

In Daimon, Alex finds her mother has been murdered by a daimon and so she starts her journey back to the only place she ever really felt at home. The Covenant, but she'll soon find out why her mother took her away all those years ago and what fate has in store for the girl with the attitude.

At the start of Half-blood Alex is saved by the one boy she never thought she'd see again. Aiden St.Delphi. Alex has had a crush on Aiden from the first time her eyes lay upon him. There's one problem she's a half-blood and he's a pure. The one rule Alex can never break is the breed order, but what happens when the only thing that could save her is a Pure's love?

When Seth shows up in Half-blood it's obvious that he has a massive role in Alex's future but the question is why and how? Jennifer's writing and storytelling throughout these two books really capture you, and take you into a world you could never return from.

“Ever since I’ve met you, I’ve wanted to break every rule.” Aiden turned away, the muscles in his neck tensing. He sighed. “You’ll become the centre of someone’s world one day. And he’ll be the luckiest son of a bitch on this earth.”

Pure is the book where this series starts to get complicated to review as I don't want to give away too much. Alex has just found out what she is destined to become. Jennifer uses her beautiful words to make us feel everything Alex is feeling. This is the book when readers start to split between team Seth and team Aiden, but let's be honest here there is only one man for Alex and that is Aiden St.Delphi.

Deity is the book in which we discover which is stronger love or faith. Jennifer does not let us down from the start to the finish of this book. At every turn there is another obstacle for Alex to overcome but the biggest obstacle for her is yet to come at the end of this book.

“Alex, you have to be in there. I know you. My

heart would not be beating if you were truly gone.”

Elixir is probably my favourite book out of this whole series. It is not necessary to read this book but I do recommend it. Jenn's writing in Aiden's point of view really stole my heart and I think it would make anyone a Team Aiden fangirl. Aiden faces so many different emotions throughout this book and we really get an insight into how his mind works.

“But it was Seth's decision, and it cannot be undone. And when you go topside in six months, you should find him and thank him."

Apollyon and Sentinel oh man. If I had ten hands I still wouldn't have enough fingers to count how many times I cried throughout these two books alone.

I fell in love with Seth all over again in Sentinel. And while I'm on the topic as Seth let me just say, I cannot wait till Seth's story. Seth showed his true side in Sentinel and how much he cares about Alex.

As for Aiden and Alex my love for them only grew, more and more. The butterflies in my stomach every time Alex and Aiden were around each other were nothing less than real. I fell in love with their love for eachother and that was all down to Jennifer's writing. The twists and turns in these two books broke my heart at times and mended it together during other times.

“Sometimes you have to know when to let hope go.”

Jennifer used Greek Mythology, the modern day world and her own twists to make a world more engrossing  than anything I have ever read before. She made me want to jump right through the pages and into the center of all the action.

This series gets a whole 5 out of 5 for me without fail. It's creative world and engrossing words were nothing less than perfect in my eyes. Also have you ever seen such beautiful covers?!

"They're going to tell stories about us."
